The Turnbull Government is funding unique local projects to make the Kooyong community more inclusive for people with disability.

The Government is providing grant funding through the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) component of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The Federal Government recently announced that three disability service providers in Kooyong -  Guide Dogs Victoria, Solve Disability Solutions and Able Australia would receive funding under the National Disability Insurance Agency’s Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Program to develop and deliver innovative programs.

These projects would further increase the independence and community participation of all people with disability. These projects are about changing how we genuinely include people with disabilities in the community.

The 2018-19 Budget guarantees the funding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Australians with a permanent and significant disability deserve the best care we can provide. The NDIS commenced in our area in November 2017. Once fully rolled out, the NDIS will directly help over 1,800 people and their families in Kooyong.

It’s critical that our community changes as we implement the NDIS to ensure it fulfils its promise to empower Australians with disability with more choice and control, while also building their capacity to participate in community life, education and work.

The NDIS was a world-leading reform that will improve the lives of 460,000 Australians with disability, their families and carers.

The Australian people support the NDIS because they are prepared to provide a helping hand to help others.
