On Thursday 9 June, Josh Frydenberg warmly welcomed to Kooyong the Shadow Minister for Education, Apprenticeships and Training, the Hon Christopher Pyne, MP.

Earlier in the morning Mr Pyne and Mr Frydenberg visited Andale School in Kew.  Established in 1981 Andale provides a wonderfully supportive learning program for children with language and learning difficulties.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for Mr Pyne to hear first hand the important issues facing schools such as Andale.

In the afternoon Mr Pyne visited Carey Baptist Grammar School where he and Mr Frydenberg conducted major roundtable discussions with a number of Independent and Catholic school principals from Kooyong.   It was a significant opportunity to exchange views.

Discussions focused on a range of issues including future funding for the sector which is under threat from Labor, the implementation of the National Curriculum, the My School website, funding arrangements for students with disabilities and creating new educational opportunities for students from an indigenous background.

Mr Frydenberg looks forward to continuing this dialogue with schools in Kooyong as there can be no more important issue than the quality of the education we provide for our children.
