Pre-poll in Kooyong

It's been an incredibly busy time with three weeks of pre-poll during an eight week election campaign. With an expected 17,000 plus people pre-polling in Kooyong the support of our volunteers was invaluable. Whilst many days were wet and windy, it was great to meet constituents as they came to vote and to share some laughs with the Labor and Green Kooyong candidates.

Kew Rotary changeover dinner

It was great to attend the Rotary Club of Kew Changeover Dinner on 30 June at the Green Acres Golf Club and welcome incoming president, Bob Slater.

Telephone Town Halls

During the course of the campaign I used innovative new technology to speak to the residents of Kooyong about the issues that are important to them. I was delighted to be joined by the Hon Julie Bishop MP, Minister for Foreign Affairs on 15 June and the Hon Greg Hunt MP, Minister for the Environment on 30 June for the telephone Town Halls.

Kew Traders Association

It was great to join the Kew Traders Association for a quick coffee and chat at Rox Cafe during the campaign on 29 June.

Visit to Hawthorn Arts Centre - Stronger Communities Program

This impressive new mural and the improved outdoor spaces at the Hawthorn Arts Centre in the City of Boroondara have been delivered with $10,000 as part of the Kooyong Stronger Communities Program. On 29 June, I joined artist Polly Hollyoak, Mayor Jim Parke and Councillor Steve Hurd to view the mural.

Hawthorn U3A

It was great to attend the Hawthorn U3A meeting on 29 June to talk about the economic and national security challenges facing Australia. Following the meeting I sat down for lunch with guests and we continued to exchange views on local and national issues.

Afternoon Tea for Australian Aid

It was a pleasure to join with fellow Kooyong candidates for an afternoon tea hosted by Australian Aid and Micah Australia at the Kew Baptist Church. Australian Aid and Micah have teamed up to raise awareness about the ongoing importance of Australia's foreign aid program. For the year 2016-17, the Australian Government will invest $3.8 billion in overseas development assistance, including $220 million to help alleviate some of the suffering caused by the ongoing Syrian conflict. I am pictured here with all of the candidates for Kooyong, Catherine Middleton from Australian Aid and guests.
