Grand Final Day for Kew Rovers Junior Football Club

On 29 August, three teams from the Kew Rovers Junior Football Club made it to Grand Final day - Under 12s, 14s & 17s. The Under 14s and Under 17s both had victories leading to much celebration at the Club. Josh is pictured here speaking to the Under 17's Kew Colts Kangaroos before the game. Later that evening hundreds of players and parents gathered at Stradbroke Park for presentations and a bite to eat. Congratulations to President Jeff Hooper and his hard working committee for giving so much of their time and effort to making 2010 another great year for the Kew Rovers.

Election Day, 21 August 2010

On 21 August, hundreds of volunteers joined Josh in manning over 30 polling booths across the Kooyong Electorate. While some votes are still to be counted it looks like we will get a terrific result in Kooyong and Josh is looking forward to having the privilege of representing the people of Kooyong.

The 'Good Grub' Project, Kew

On 17 August, Josh joined Boroondara's Community Outreach Minister, Pam White (pictured here) at the Kew Uniting Church Hall for the Good Grub Program. Run by a team of volunteers who cook and prepare meals for the homeless, the Good Grub Program is a fantastic initiative providing a number of people in need with a 'healthy meal in a welcoming environment'.

Kooyong Candidates' Sustainability Forum at MLC, Kew

On 16 August, Josh together with the ALP and Greens Candidates for Kooyong (pictured here) participated in a Forum held at Methodist Ladies' College. Involving students from across the Electorate, the Forum provided Candidates with the opportunity to answer questions on a range of topics including environmental sustainability and climate change.

Open Day at Maranoa Gardens, Balwyn

On 14 August, Josh attended the beautiful Maranoa Gardens located adjacentto Beckett Park in Balwyn. Josh is pictured here with two former Boroondara Mayors, Meredith Butler and Geoff Hayes and former Boroondara Councillor Lachlan Williams. The Gardens were created in 1901 by Mr J Watson with the purchase of 3.5 acres of land which was subsequently purchased by Camberwell Council in 1922 and opened to the public in 1926. Today it is home to a great variety of Australian native plants and is a special place for many Melbournians.

Campaigning in Maling Road, Canterbury

On 14 August, Josh and friends (pictured here) descended on Maling Road, Canterbury to meet with local small business owners and shoppers. Maling Road is a charming shopping village with its origins in the late 1800's. Feedback from the locals was extremely positive about the Coalition's campaign to date and the dangers they saw if Labor was given another term of Government.

MLC’s Twilight Craft Market

On 13 August Josh visited MLC’s Twilight Craft Market to see the many wonderful stalls selling everything from cards to clothes. Josh bought some cup cake holders (from the stall owner pictured here) for two budding master chefs namely, his niece and nephew, as well as a number of cupcakes for dessert that night.

Foundation Boroondara's Breakfast in Camberwell

On 13 August, Josh attended Foundation Boroondara's breakfast in Camberwell and is pictured here with one its Board of Directors Noel Halford. The guest speaker at breakfast was Rob Moodie, Professor of Global Health at the Nossal Institute, University of Melbourne. The Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that does a fantastic job fulfilling its mission to 'build a more caring, connected community'.

Launch of Roland Perry's 'The Changi Brownlow' in Hawthorn

On 11 August, Josh attended the launch of Roland Perry's latest book 'The Changi Brownlow' at Readings, in Hawthorn. Roland, pictured here with Josh, has written an inspirational story about the Australians, who following the fall of Singapore in 1942 and subsequently held as POWs in Changi Prison, set up an Australian Football League - it had the works, coaches, umpires, tribunal and selection panel. Amazingly the final game of the season between 'Victoria' and the 'Rest of Australia' was played in front of 10,000 spectators and a very special Brownlow Medal was awarded.

Andrew Peacock Launches Kooyong Campaign

On 9 August, one of Kooyong’s favourite sons came home to launch Josh’s campaign. He received a rousing reception at the Launch and went on to meet a number of small business owners in Kew. Having been an effective local Member for 28 years and a Liberal Party leader he knows what is required to have a successful political career. His support is greatly appreciated.
