Pollie Pedal ends at Manly

On April 10, Josh completed the nine day Pollie Pedal which began on the Gold Coast. Joining Tony Abbott for the 900 km plus ride was a wonderful opportunity to visit a number of regional communities including Kyogle, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Dorrigo, Armidale, Walcha and Cessnock and listen to the issues of interest to them.

An annual event for the last thirteen years, this charity bike ride raises money to support the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. The money raised will fund clinical outreach positions for healthcare professionals to work in rural and remote aboriginal communities in western NSW and the Northern Territory.

The Pollie Pedal bike ride has raised more than one million dollars since Tony Abbott launched the charity fundraiser in 1997. It is hoped that this year’s event will raise in excess of $200,000.

The petition asks the House to urge the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Digital Productivity to consult with the board of Australia Post about re‐establishing a post office in Balwyn.
