South Eastern League Skate & BMX Competition

On May 28, Josh attended the South Eastern League Skate & BMX Competition Heat Finals at the BMX Skate Park, Hawthorn. It was a great opportunity to talk to the young competitors and catch up with the team from Hawthorn Rotary who were running the sausage sizzle. Josh is pictured here with Hawthorn Rotary members, Jill Weeks, David Rush, Ralph Treloar, Robert Ball and Ngaire Cannon at the sausage sizzle.


Visit to Mary MacKillop Aged Care in Hawthorn

On May 27, Josh visited Mary MacKillop Aged Care, Hawthorn East, for afternoon tea with the residents and CEO Camille Barker and Sister Josephine Dubiel from the Sisters of St Joseph. Mary MacKillop Aged Care has a wide range of activities for its residents and provides a welcoming and warm environment. Pictured with Josh are: Lillian Kelly, Sister Josephine Dubriel, Margaret Healy, CEO Camille Barker, Marie Ryan, Trish Crowe (lifestyle coordinator) and Marie Foy.

50th Anniversary of Cancer Council Australia

On May 26, Josh was delighted to attend the 'Biggest Morning Tea' in Parliament House, part of the Cancer Council of Australia's 50th birthday celebrations. The morning tea is one of the Council's most important fundraising events. Last year 34,000 fundraisers across the country hosted Australia's Biggest Morning Tea events, raising in excess of $10 million. The Cancer Council of Australia hopes to do even better this year. All funds raised from the events are invested directly into life-saving research, cancer prevention and support services for people in Australia living with cancer and their families. 2011 Budget

Live Below The Line

On May 25,  Josh met with members of the Global Poverty Project and Oaktree Foundation's 'Live Below The Line' team. The initiative challenged Australians to eat for just $2 a day for a week from 23 to 27 May 2011. Q ArtStudio

On May 19, Josh visited Q ArtStudio, Kew. The studio employs talented artists who have an intellectual disability and their impressive artworks are sold to the public. Josh is pictured here with many of the studio's talented artists. 


Law Week, Strathcona Girls Baptist Grammar School

On May 19, Josh addressed students from the legal studies class at Strathcona Girls Baptist Grammar School, Canterbury. Josh spoke about the origins and intricacies of our system of government, including those elements inherited from the Westminster System. Josh is pictured here with teacher David Bradshaw and his students.
