Local Sporting Champions

On March 30, Josh hosted award recipients of the Federal Government's Local Sporting Championship grant program. These grants are aimed at people aged between 12 and 18 years who have to travel long distances to participate in the higher level competition of their chosen sport. Winners came from a wide-range of sports including hockey, badminton, gymnastics and table tennis. Josh is pictured here with many of the recipients.

St Bede's Primary School

On March 30, Josh visited St Bede's Primary School, North Balwyn. Established more than 60 years ago, St Bede's has a thriving school community with 350 students. Josh is pictured here with a grade 3 class and their interactive white board.

Our Lady of Good Counsel

On March 29, Josh visited Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School, Deepdene. Josh presented certificates to the grade 5 and 6 students who recently visited Parliament House, Canberra. Josh is pictured here with a number of students holding the Australian flag.

Parliamentary Debate on NBN

On March 28, Josh spoke in the House on Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (National Broadband Network Measures - Access Arrangements) Bill 2011. Click here to read it.

Friends of the Auburn Tower

On March 27, Josh joined Friends of the Auburn Tower for afternoon tea at Auburn Uniting Church, Auburn. The church is a remarkable example of late 19th century architecture and the tower has an observation deck with a panoramic view from the city to the Dandenongs. Josh is pictured here with Kevin Hughes, Cheryl Pisterman, Margaret Hughes, and vice-president of the Friends of Auburn Tower, Alan Chuck.

Carmelite Monastery 34th Ecumenical Gathering

On March 27, Josh joined hundreds of members of the Kew community for a special non- demoninational service at Carmelite Monastery, Kew. A fixture on the Kew Festival calendar, the service featured church leaders, choirs and musicians. Josh is pictured here at the delicious afternoon tea that followed.

St Joseph Primary School’s Open Houses Day

On 27 March, Josh attended the Open Houses fundraiser at St Josephs School Hawthorn. Open Houses is the school's major annual fundraiser and over 1000 visitors participated on the day. Every parent of the school was involved - driving a bus, working in the kitchen or selling raffle tickets - making it a real team effort. Good Neighbour Day at Macleay Park

On March 27, Josh joined community leaders and local residents for Good Neighbour Day at Macleay Park, Balwyn North. In its third year, Good Neighbour Day encourages residents to visit their neighbours and lend a helping hand to those who need it  Josh is pictured here with Boroondara councillor, Cr David Bloom,  Boroondara mayor, Cr Nicholas Tragas, and president of the Myrtle and Macleay Park Advisory Committee, Tony Stephen.

Civic Service at Leo Baeck Centre

On March 26, Josh attended the Annual Civic Service at Leo Baeck Centre for Progressive Judaism, East Kew. Each year the civic service is held in conjuction with the Kew Festival. With the support of hundreds of families from the local area, the centre, which has been at its current site since 1971, hosts a large range of social and cultural activities. Josh is pictured here with the State Member for Kew, the Hon. Andrew McIntosh MLA, board member, Michael Taft, and Rabbi, Jonathan Keren-Black.

Launch of Parliamentary Friends of Lifeline

On March 24, Josh attended the launch of the Parliamentary Friends of Lifeline at Parliament House, Canberra. Established more than 50 years ago, Lifeline provides thousands of people with access to crisis support, suicide prevention and mental health support services. Every minute of every day will see someone somewhere in Australia place a call to Lifeline. Josh is pictured here with board member John Brogden, new CEO Dr Maggie Jamieson and long-standing patron John Tierney.
