Celebrating National Tree Day at Kew East Primary School

On August 5, Josh was delighted to attend this year’s National Tree Day celebrations at Kew East Primary School. Josh was taken on a tour of the ‘Habitat Haven’ where he joined students from the Year 5 Leadership Gardening Group and the Year 5 Environmental Leaders of the Future who were planting indigenous flora. Josh planted a Banksia Marginata (Silver Banksia) and hopes to see it grow over coming years. Click here for Josh's media release.

Launch of ‘Letters to My Daughter’

On August 3, Josh attended the Menzies Foundation book launch of ‘Letters to My Daughter’, edited by Heather Henderson. The book is a wonderful collection of letters written between 1955-75 by Australia’s longest serving prime minister, Sir Robert Menzies, to his only daughter Heather Henderson. Rotary Club of Boroondara

On August 2, Josh addressed the Rotary Club of Boroondara at the Balwyn Community Centre. The Club is one of ten strong Rotary Clubs in Kooyong – each doing wonderful work supporting community based projects both locally and overseas. Among the projects the Boroondara Rotary Club is known for is its support of Camcare, Boroondara Cares and the Cancer Council as well as initiatives in the Philippines and Tibet. Flag Presentation for School Exchange Program

On August 2, Josh hosted students from Canterbury Girls School & Fintona Girls School who will soon be spending part of the school year in another country. These students will join host families in France, USA & Ireland on the Southern Cross Cultural Exchange program. Josh presented the students with an Australian Flag to take with them and is pictured here with Megan, Charlotte, Bella and Esther.

Yooralla Morning Tea - Surrey Hills

On August 2, Josh attended a morning tea held at the Yooralla office in Surrey Hills. the purpose of which was to give support to the proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme. Josh met with many of the Yooralla staff and families currently accessing the community services offered to them through Yooralla. Visit to Singapore

In late July, Josh visited Singapore at the invitation of their government. During the course of his stay he met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, K Shanmugam, and the Minister of State (Defence), Lawrence Wong , as well as a range of other senior parliamentarians and officials. Josh also discussed key issues facing the tertiary sector with the President of the National University of Singapore, Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, had briefings on Singapore’s approach to sustainable water management from officials in Singapore’s Industry Development Department and gave a speech on Australian foreign policy at the Lee Kuan School of Public Policy. St John's Anglican Church Business Roundtable

On July 14, Josh attended the inaugural business roundtable breakfast at St John’s Anglican Church, Camberwell. Guest speaker was renowned economist and former head of the Australian Fair Pay Commission, Professor Ian Harper. headspace, Western Melbourne

On July 11, Josh visited the Western Melbourne headspace, Sunshine. headspace sites provide a one-stop shop for young people, aged 12 to 25, to access information and services relating to general health and well-being, mental health and alcohol and drug services. Recently, Josh has called for a headspace site to be established in Kooyong. Josh is pictured here with Western Melbourne headspace clinical services manager Alison McRoberts.
