50th Anniversary of Cancer Council Australia

On May 26, Josh was delighted to attend the 'Biggest Morning Tea' in Parliament House, part of the Cancer Council of Australia's 50th birthday celebrations. The morning tea is one of the Council's most important fundraising events. Last year 34,000 fundraisers across the country hosted Australia's Biggest Morning Tea events, raising in excess of $10 million. The Cancer Council of Australia hopes to do even better this year. All funds raised from the events are invested directly into life-saving research, cancer prevention and support services for people in Australia living with cancer and their families. 2011 Budget

On May 25, Josh spoke in the House on the Budget and Labor's fiscal failures. Click here to read watch Josh's speech.


Live Below The Line

On May 25,  Josh met with members of the Global Poverty Project and Oaktree Foundation's 'Live Below The Line' team. The initiative challenged Australians to eat for just $2 a day for a week from 23 to 27 May 2011. Josh is pictured here with members of the Global Poverty Project, members of the Oaktree Foundation and members of Parliament from both sides of the chamber.


Q ArtStudio

On May 19, Josh visited Q ArtStudio, Kew. The studio employs talented artists who have an intellectual disability and their impressive artworks are sold to the public. Josh is pictured here with many of the studio's talented artists. 


Law Week, Strathcona Girls Baptist Grammar School

On May 19, Josh addressed students from the legal studies class at Strathcona Girls Baptist Grammar School, Canterbury. Josh spoke about the origins and intricacies of our system of government, including those elements inherited from the Westminster System. Josh is pictured here with teacher David Bradshaw and his students.


Deepdene Primary School

On May 19, Josh visited Deepdene Primary School. After a fantastic question and answer session with the students, Josh presented the grade 6s with certificates for visiting Parliament House earlier in the year. Josh is pictured here with the class.


Kew Hockey Club

On May 18, the Kew Hockey Club welcomed Josh as their number one ticket holder. The presentation was followed by The Great Debate featuring Hamish & Andy. It was a full-house at the Rivoli Theatre and a testament to the strong community support for the club's activities. Josh is pictured here on stage with comedian Stephen Curry.


Celebrating National Families Week at Cara Armstrong Kindergarten

On May 18, Josh visited Cara Armstrong Kindergarten in Hawthorn East, to celebrate National Families Week. Josh is pictured here with some of the 3 year old kindergarten group and teacher Louise Houlihan enjoying a special story.


Visit to North Balwyn Greek Senior Citizens Club

On May 18, Josh visited North Balwyn Greek Senior Citizen’s Club. During his visit, Josh met members of the local Greek community and joined them for a game of cards and lunch. Kooyong is fortunate to have a vibrant Greek community.


National Harmony Day at Auburn South Primary

On May 18, Josh visited Auburn South Primary School to celebrate National Harmony Day and were treated to a performance by Chinese dancers and accompanying dragon. Josh is pictured here with students from Auburn South Primary School, school council president David Hay and principal Gary Campbell.
